Show Me Your Autumn Renovation

Ian Willson second pass scarifier

Autumn renovation is underway on greens across the country, and I’d really like to see what you’re doing.

If you’re following one of my NotDressing programmes — or using any part of the Bowls Central autumn renovation approach — send me some photos and a few words about what you’ve done.

Before, during and after photos are particularly useful, but don’t worry about making them look polished. I’m interested in seeing the work as it really happens: scarifying, aeration, what comes out of the green, materials going down, overseeding and, later, how the surface recovers.

One of the most useful things we can do is share real examples from real greens. Your photos and updates could help another greenkeeper understand what to expect, give them confidence to try a different approach, or simply reassure them that what they are seeing on their own green is perfectly normal.

If you can, also tell me what surprised you most during the renovation. That can often be just as useful as the photos themselves.

I’m hoping to share some of these examples through Bowls Central so that other greenkeepers can learn from what clubs are actually doing on the ground.

So, if you’re renovating your green this autumn, take a few photos as you go and send them over. I’d love to see them.

Photos submitted may be used by Bowls Central in future articles, emails, website content and educational material in accordance with our Terms.
