Description
Evolve-LZT Greens – Moisture Management + Rootzone Improvement in One Application
Evolve-LZT combines ProWet Evolve soil wetting agent technology with Leo-Zeo Turf, giving you effective moisture management and a high-quality leonardite/zeolite soil amendment in one easy granular application.
For bowling greens, this is a particularly useful combination.
Many established greens now have very sand-dominated rootzones. Sand provides drainage, but excessive sand content can also mean poor nutrient retention, low buffering capacity and an increased tendency towards uneven moisture distribution and Localised Dry Patch (LDP).
Evolve-LZT addresses both sides of that problem.
The ProWet Evolve component helps water penetrate and move more evenly through the rootzone, reducing soil water repellency and helping to maintain more consistent rootzone moisture.
At the same time, the Leo-Zeo Turf granule remains in the soil as a valuable rootzone amendment, combining leonardite with natural clinoptilolite zeolite.
What does Evolve-LZT bring to your green?
Improved moisture management
ProWet Evolve uses RST soil surfactant technology developed specifically for professional turf. It helps improve water infiltration and manage hydrophobic soil conditions associated with Localised Dry Patch.
Better distribution of water through the rootzone can mean fewer excessively dry areas, more consistent growing conditions and more efficient use of irrigation and rainfall.
Improved nutrient retention
Zeolite has a naturally high Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), giving it the ability to hold positively charged plant nutrients within the rootzone rather than allowing them to wash rapidly through a sandy soil profile.
This is particularly useful on highly sand-dominated bowling greens where nutrient retention can otherwise be poor.
Leonardite and stable organic material
Leo-Zeo Turf also contains leonardite, providing stable humic material and humic and fulvic acids.
Rather than continually trying to compensate for an increasingly mineral, sand-dominated rootzone, repeated applications allow useful soil-amending material to be introduced gradually into the upper rootzone.
Reduced nutrient leaching
Improving the nutrient-holding capacity of the rootzone can help keep applied nutrients where grass roots have a better opportunity to use them, improving fertiliser efficiency and reducing unnecessary losses through leaching.
Supports a healthier rootzone
Leo-Zeo Turf has been developed to improve the physical, chemical and biological environment surrounding the grass plant, encouraging stronger rooting and a more resilient turf.
Why Evolve-LZT instead of simply applying a granular wetting agent?
This is where Evolve-LZT becomes particularly interesting.
A three-bag application to a standard 1,500 m² bowling green provides the equivalent ProWet Evolve wetting-agent treatment while simultaneously applying 60 kg of Leo-Zeo Turf.
So, while you are carrying out your normal moisture-management treatment, you are also making a useful addition of leonardite and zeolite to the rootzone.
For greens that have moved Beyond Peak Sand, that makes considerably more sense than treating moisture problems without doing anything to improve the underlying rootzone.
The wetting-agent component deals with water behaviour now.
The Leo-Zeo component helps improve the soil environment for the future.
Bowling Green Application Rate
For a standard bowling green of approximately 1,500 m²:
Apply 3 x 20 kg bags – 60 kg total – at 40 g/m².
At this rate, Evolve-LZT provides the equivalent of approximately 12 litres per hectare of ProWet Evolve liquid surfactant.
This also corresponds with a full-green ProWet Evolve treatment while adding 60 kg of Leo-Zeo Turf to the rootzone at the same time.
Evolve-LZT is particularly well suited to:
- Spring pre-season preparation
- Autumn renovation
- Greens affected by Localised Dry Patch
- Sand-dominated rootzones with poor nutrient and moisture retention
- Greens where gradual improvement of the existing rootzone is preferred to continually adding more sand
Apply during spring and/or autumn preparation and renovation programmes, preferably in conjunction with aeration so that material has the best opportunity to enter the upper rootzone.
Evolve-LZT can also be applied during the playing season where additional moisture management is required. For playing season use, apply after sarrell rolling and water in.
Pack size: 20 kg
Full bowling green treatment: 3 bags / 60 kg
One application – two jobs
Evolve-LZT provides an unusually logical combination for modern bowling greens: manage water more effectively while improving the soil that has to manage that water in the first place.
